Bowling Green House is situated in Kendal, Cumbria - just a few minutes walk from the centre of this bustling town - a popular Lake District holiday destination, offering restaurants, cafes, take-aways, art galleries, a cinema and twice-weekly market. The property, formerly the Bowling Green Tavern (at the far right of the above photograph) is currently in the process of renovation, sympathetically designed by a local architect to provide luxury facilities whilst retaining the characteristics of a cosy Lakeland tavern. Just across the road (on the left of the picture) is The Rifleman's Arms. The completed property will provide comfortable accommodation for 10 adults and 2 children. (See 'Accommodation' for full details). There will be a brand new kitchen, luxury bathroom plus 3 shower-rooms (2 en-suite) and new conservatory. Special 'extras' are being added, to make this a holiday you will remember. These include a private out-door HOT TUB and a Finnish 'Grillikota' or BBQ house, so you can enjoy barbeque in this cosy insulated cabin by the hot tub, all year round. Double doors lead from the dining area onto the garden. The large garden provides opportunities for quoits (traditionally played at the Bowling Green Tavern) and croquet. It is a lovely place to sit and watch the bird life, or simply enjoy a few minutes peace and quiet. The Finnish 'grillikota' - a circular insulated garden house (4 metres in diameter) has a built-in barbeque and chimney. This will seat 12 people and will be situated close to the hot tub, so you can enjoy a dip and a BBQ whatever the weather. A gate at the bottom of the rear garden leads onto 'Bowling Fell' - an open area, across which you can enjoy a pleasant walk to the south end of Kendal. This is deal for a stroll to the Brewery Arts Centre with its bars, gallery and cafe, or to Abbot Hall Art Gallery, The Museum of Lakeland Life and Industry, or simply to browse in the variety of shops of Kirkland and Highgate. Kendal town centre is a 5-minute walk down-hill from the front of the house.
